The Board of Directors is busy at work putting together an awesome season for this year, including already thinking about our potential races!
As you may know, the Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR) is the premiere Head race of the year and entries are limited to a lottery. However, there is a HOCR 4702 erg challenge coming up - our team can win a guaranteed entry to this year's HOCR! See the details below. It is called 4702 because that is the distance of the HOCR (4702 meters). All you need to do is sign up on Regatta Central and row the 4702 meters indoors (any erg works) on your own, and then enter your time on Regatta Central. Your time has no effect on the entry for the club so no worries if you are not at your fastest (we are early in winter training). There is a $10 entry fee per rower which goes to charity (it increases to $15 after 1/29). Each participant gets a 4702 pin and is entered into a drawing for a Concept2 erg or sculling oars. The dates for you to row are flexible (1/30 to 2/5), and your time is on the honor system. If we get 10 or more participants from CCR, we will be entered to win one of 10 guaranteed entries - this would be huge for us! (note: the specific event and lineup we would enter will be determined at a later date in the season, not necessarily made up of those who are erging in this challenge).
Here's what you need to do:
Register with the link below (you will likely be required to be a current member of USRowing - let me know if you need help with that)
Declare Cape Cod Rowing, Inc. as your club affiliation
Enter the appropriate age and gender category (kind of like you are rowing a single in a regatta)
Row the 4702 meters, and then enter your time during the dates specified
If you need access to an erg, let Kathy Cook know and we can find one available for you to hop on. Please let Kathy know if you are participating, so that she can keep a count of how many members we have - hope we get at least 10! If we get 20 or more, we will get two entries!
