Participants will be required to adhere to our Covid safety protocols, in addition to current local and state guidelines.
Whether you’re totally new to the sport, getting back in after a break, or have spent years on the water, our rowing programs are structured to encompass a wide level of experience.
Learn to Row Clinics
Our eight-session clinics will take you through the basics of rowing, practicing first on land-based rowing machines, and then on the water in an eight-person shell with a coxswain who navigates the boat. Each rower holds a single oar, which is mounted either on the port side or starboard side of the boat.
Sculling—where each rower holds a pair of oars—will also be covered during the course, initially in a four-person shell. Coaches will ride alongside in a launch to instruct on the elements of proper technique, as well as boat handling and terminology. Participants do not need to be members of Cape Cod Rowing.
All sessions run from 7:15 am to 8:45 am. Eight session clinic fee: $250
Intermediate Coached Rowing
Every Wednesday and Friday, May 19 to August 20 at 5:30-7:00am
Whether you’ve just completed a Learn to Row clinic and would like to continue developing your skills, or have been sculling for years and want to fine tune some aspects of your stroke, think of intermediate coaching as supportive continuing education.
A learned eye can spot minor problems that you can remedy in order to help you feel more comfortable in any type of rowing boat, make balancing a narrow racing shell easier, and allow you to attain the speed over the water you’re capable of reaching. Coaches strive to explain both the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ so you understand the benefits of making changes, then learn the best way to reach your goals.
Intermediate Coached Rowing program fee: $125 + CCR membership
Masters Open Rowing
Beginning Mid-May to October at 5:30 am to 7:00 am
As of April 19, only 1x, 2x, and 4+ boats will be available to row until further notice.
Members can choose to row independently in this co-ed, self-coached program with an emphasis on improving rowing skills and fitness. We row in club-organized 4+ and 8+ shells, with the opportunity for sculling in 2x and 4x shells as well. Sign up bi-weekly for the days of your choice, based on your schedule.
Those who want additional rowing time on the water in addition to Intermediate Coached Rowing are encouraged to sign up to row during these open rowing sessions. If you completed a Learn to Row clinic the previous summer, we highly recommend signing up for Masters Open Rowing at the start of the season.
For all Learn-to-Row and intermediate coached programs, Cape Cod Rowing reserves the right to cancel a program if too few rowers are registered, or if there is a change in state or local Covid guidelines.
Participants will be notified in advance of the first session in the event a program is cancelled and a refund or credit towards a future program will be granted.
