REGATTA  BACKGROUND
As well as being a superb day of racing we aim to highlight our Breast Cancer awareness foundation, Pinkboat.org who’s mission statement is:

To raise awareness of and funds to fight the scourge of breast cancer.

It is unacceptable that when you see an 8+ go by, filled with vibrant and healthy girls, that statistics suggest that at least one of them will suffer from this disease. We aim to improve their odds through education and awareness. 100% of all the funds we raise during the regatta will go to our Pinkboat.org foundation which is run entirely by volunteers. As well as sponsoring this regatta and making it free to enter, we plan to partner with the YMCA to host a women’s wellness weekend in September. The theme will be about Breast Cancer and the retreat will be free to Breast Cancer survivor’s.

The general public will be invited to watch the regatta, we plan on having an official photographer on site as well as a few members of the press!

There will be plenty of great things to buy, from merchandise and bake sale items to fantastic auction items too! We will have an excellent food stand with clam chowder, freshly grilled burgers and sandwiches etc. Please consider asking your program to leave their grills behind and patronize our food stands, the food will be first class and very reasonable.

Race Program:

For many programs this will be their first multi team regatta for the season. As such our plan is to keep it short and uncomplicated. We have increased the number of categories and plan to have each one run as a final, without heats.

Classification definitions:

JV is for any rower currently in 10th grade or below. Alternatively a team may enter a genuine 3rd 8+ or 4+. This is to allow 9th / 10th graders to compete against rowers of a similar age / capability.

N2 is only for Novice rowers for whom this spring is their first season of rowing.

N1 is for Novice rowers who are in their second season of rowing. A first season novice may enter N1 if they are good enough.

4x may be with or without coxswain.

Mixed N / JV / V - Whether you use this race as an opportunity to race those who you could not fit in elsewhere or to show your team’s might is up to you. Mixed boats should have 4 males and 4 females (rowers), with the Varsity boat allowed to have a coach in the boat! Mixed N describe any rower currently in their first or second season of rowing.

500m Crash C’s Erg Challenge:

We will have an erg tent with several ergs set up so that rowers may partake in the challenge at any stage during the day. There will be 3 age group divisions, age is as of May 3rd. Under 16, Under 19 and Open. Points will be awarded for the first 6 places in each division (Men and Women) and go toward the overall team trophy. Medals will be awarded to the first place winners in each category. The event also doubles as a fund raiser and each entry costs $3. Every entry goes into a drawing for an iPod. Please encourage every one of your rowers (and parents / coaches) to enter.

Medals and Trophies:

Depending on the number of entries we plan on having gold medals for every event and an overall Team Trophy.
