Learn to Row - More information:

Here are some suggestions on what to bring to your "Learn to Row" sessions.  First of all some common sense items: you need to bring some water to drink, sunglasses, and sun cream.  You will want to wear tight fitting clothes (if your clothes are too loose you can get them caught in the equipment). I would suggest you pick up some bicycle shorts or something similar by the 3rd class. Remember to dress in layers as it can be cool on the lake.  What ever you wear, be sure to wear pants that can be rolled up past you knees as you will be walking in the water to get into the boats. This might sound strange but also bring some socks.  It is also a good idea to bring and keep a complete change of clothes in your car. We will be using the rowing machine the first few sessions (don’t worry we will get in the boats too).  You will need athletic shoes for that.

You will be required to complete a basic swim test.  Depending on the weather, this will be done after the 2nd or 3rd session.

Here are directions to the beach.  From the Mid Cape Highway (Rt. 6), get off at exit 6 and head towards Hyannis. Just after the freeway exits take a right onto Shootflying Hill Road.  Follow it approximately 1 mile to the town landing (you will see a parking lot in front of the Lake). If you would like to see a map go to our website www.capecodrowing.org . Link to “about us” and you will see the link to the map.

If there is no place to park, turn around and head back the way you came and park on the side of the road past the no parking signs.
