They are back! The 9 girls who toured South Africa have recently arrived home from their remarkable adventure, flush with great stories, experiences and excellent results! The blog site has much more detail - but highlights include: GU16A2x - Gold medal; GU16A4x - 2nd place; GU15A 4x - 3rd place as well as several other exceptional performances. The girls met or exceeded every goal we set and were excellent ambassadors on behalf of Cape Cod Rowing. Coaches and parents from many of the South African clubs extended the warmest hospitality one could imagine and all complimented our girls on their rowing and their behavior.

The girls travelled extensively through South Africa, spending time with the girls from St. Mary's in Johannesburg, game drives through Pilanesburg National Park (with extraordinary sightings), a couple of days exploring Cape Town and meeting rowers from Somerset College, then journeying along the Garden Route, with gorgeous stays in Mossel Bay and Plettenberg Bay before finally settling into East London for our Main event - the Buffalo River Regatta.

The benefit of such a tour extends to the entire club. The wonderful publicity the team received leading up to the tour, certainly gave CCR enormous exposure and the work ethic instilled in the touring girls will undoubtedly raise the standard for rowing across the board at CCR. Additionally we hope to soon be hosting visitors from South Africa in the near future which should be a wonderful cross cultural experience for all.
