Dear Members of Cape Cod Rowing

I am saddened to report to you all that as of June 13, 2009 Guy Monseair no longer is affiliated with Cape Cod Rowing.  Guy had volunteered his skill, energy and enthusiasm over the past 3 years and for that Cape Cod Rowing is grateful. Despite the loss Cape Cod Rowing shall continue to offer to all of its members and through all of its programs professional coaching and the support necessary to strive for and achieve excellence both on and off the water.

On another note, I am delighted to inform all of the members that Cape Cod Rowing has hired Coach Michael Baker to direct our summer programs. Coach Baker comes to our organization with a superb rowing background with both his coaching accomplishments as well as having won more rowing medals than can be counted.

               Coach Baker is a University of Massachusetts graduate with a degree in Sports Management.  Coach Baker has coached and trained with both National and U.S. Olympic Team rowers. Since graduating from UMass  he has been involved, as a coach, with many elite rowing programs including:

- MIT crew;

-Assistant coach The Winsor School, Boston (an all girls preparatory school);

-Assistant boys coach North Hampton crew;

-Elite women's coach, Ottawa Rowing Club;

-Youth coach for troubled inner city kids, Ottawa Rowing Club; and

-Assistant men's coach UMass Amherst.

Coach Baker’s “Short List" of rowing medals include:

-Gold, Heavy Eight New England Rowing Championships;

-Gold, Heavy Four Head of the Connecticut;

-Gold, Lightweight Single Head of the Connecticut;

-2 Golds, Lightweight four Head of the Charles;

-3 Golds, (Trifecta, winning the pair, the four and the eight) Canadian Henley; and

The list goes on ....

As president of Cape Cod Rowing I look forward to Coach Baker’s involvement with CCR and am sure that his passion for the sport and his professional approach will surely help to bring CCR to the next level.
